Business Computer Applications Class

​BCA Class Information

  • Prerequisite:  IBCA Class
  • Microsoft Excel—Learners will discuss Excel basics, change the appearance of a worksheet, organize the worksheet, enter worksheet formulas, use functions, enhance a worksheet, working with multiple worksheets and workbooks, and work with charts.
  • Microsoft Access—Learners will discuss Access basics; create a database; create queries; create and modify forms; create and modify reports; and integrate Access.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint—Learners will discuss PowerPoint basics, create and enhance PowerPoint presentations, work with visual elements, expand on PowerPoint basics.  Learners will create PowerPoint linear and non-linear presentations.
  • Microsoft Publisher—Learners will discuss Publisher basics and enhance Publisher documents.
  • Personal Résumé—Learners will discuss how to format a personal résumé.  After collecting personal information the learner will key his/her personal résumé. 
  • Desktop Publishing—Learners will discuss desktop publishing terminology and correct format.  Publisher will be used to create a two-page newsletter.
  • Industry Based Certification—Computer technology will be presented that will lead to the learner’s ability to achieve industry based certification for Microsoft Office Specialist Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.  Learners will use practice software to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist exams.  They will be given the opportunity to take the Microsoft Office Specialist Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint exams.

When Tech Teaches, What Do Teachers Do?  Innovative educators enjoy using high quality digital programs to support learning where they work, but it does mean their role shifts.  There are several changes in environments where technology is used to  teach.  

Flipped Classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom.  It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom.
